Gone are the days of bulky battery packs and cumbersome wires and lip or nose pegs. These units are an all in one, sealed immobilizer which runs on an internal battery. However, don't be concerned as the proprietary circuitry means this electric immobilizer has the power for effective immobilization. The immobilisers are rechargeable and there is also the option of an emergency battery pack to power the unit if it runs flat. Function:
Cattle from cows, steers, calves to bulls are immobilised through electric rectal probe stunning. Safe electrical currents are induced into the soft tissue of the animal causing a temporary and completely reversible paralysis of the muscle. Alternating between muscle contraction and relaxation at high frequencies allow for effective control of the beast while not inducing excessive muscle fatigue or damage. In terms of safety this cattle immobilizer provides benefits over large animal anesthesia or the alternative of having only crush or cradle restraint.
Adjustability:
Adjust the immobiliser using the twist knob on the outside to easily dial in the required setting for each animal being restrained. Insertion is performed with the immobiliser switched off, then by increasing the current an optimum setting for that beast can be quickly found. If during the procedure the beast is too active simply stop and increase the setting.

Note: For very wild, large cattle in some instances only partial paralysis may be achieved, however, this will provide improved safety compared to not using an electric immobiliser.
