Power Cables

Power leads to be used with 12V or 24V batteries. Use with our range of DC electric pumps. Built in fuse holder to protect your equipment and large alligator clips make connecting to your battery easy. These power cables are rated to high currents and are well within specifications for use with even our largest pumps.
Match the cable to the supply voltage, equipment current, cable length, plug and socket type and operating environment. The conductor size must be adequate to limit voltage drop and heating, especially for motors with high starting current. Also check whether the cable needs outdoor, oil-resistant, flexible, heavy-duty or high-temperature construction.
Long or undersized cables create voltage drop, which can reduce motor performance, increase current draw and contribute to overheating of the cable or equipment. High-load tools and pumps are particularly sensitive. Use the shortest practical lead with a conductor size suitable for the equipment rating and do not rely on a light-duty domestic extension lead.
Only use cables, plugs, sockets and connection covers rated for the intended outdoor or wet environment. Keep joins off the ground and away from standing water, traffic and sharp edges. Outdoor suitability does not make a damaged connection safe, and electrical equipment should still be protected by appropriate circuit protection, including an RCD where required.
A coiled cable cannot dissipate heat as effectively, particularly under high load. Fully unwind cable reels when operating equipment near the reel’s rated capacity and comply with the separate coiled and uncoiled current ratings shown on the product. Stop using the cable if the plug, socket, reel or insulation becomes unusually warm.
Remove the cable from service immediately if the insulation is cut, crushed, melted or brittle, if conductors are exposed, or if plugs, sockets or strain reliefs are loose or damaged. Intermittent power, arcing, overheating or tripping also requires investigation. Repairs and plug replacement should be completed by a suitably qualified person where required.
