Multifunctional Smart Pump Controller
Description
The multifunction 'Smart' or 'intelligent' pump controller is ideal for use with borehole pumps and can be used to detect if the pump loses water supply and is at risk of running dry. The smart controller will monitor the pumps current draw and identify drops in load which can indicate loss of prime. A pump controller can prevent costly damage to your expensive pump asset and should be considered by all.
Pump 'Smart' Controller / Loss of prime detection
- Protect your submersible pump from running dry with dry-running current detection.
- Option to integrate tank level sensors to start and stop pumps automatically
- Option to connect pressure sensors to start and stop pumps automatically
- Suitable for pumps up to 2.2kW
The 'Smart' controller is ideal for use with a range of pump types and different pumping operations. It's capable of detecting and assisting in the control of the following situations
- Locked-rotor / Over-current
- Under-current / dry-running
- Under and Over Voltage
- Control based on liquid level (float sensor inputs required)
- Control based on pressure (0.5-4.5V pressure sensor input required)
- Control of duty / standby pump starting
- Ability to trigger a external alarm
When installing a submersible borehole pump a common design challenge is how to protect pump damage from dry-running? While the pump is submerged, the pump is protected however over time the well level may reduce or the well production capacity may fall below the pumps capacity. For unmanned operations, this brings with it risk that the pump will one day run dry and be damaged. With the incorporation of a 'Smart' controller, users can program the normal pump current draw and set a 'trip' if this falls to a user defined setpoint below this value. A sudden drop in pump current draw can be a good indication the pump is cavitating as a result of sucking in air rather than water.
Users can also program high current trips for scenarios where the pump locks its rotor and this might indicate high levels of debris have suddenly entered the pump.
Utilising a 'Smart' pump controller can offer piece of mind and also protect against costly pump repairs. The pump controller will require termination of 240V electrical wiring and therefore must be installed by a licensed electrician.
