Immersion Heater with Digital Thermostat
Description
The Immersion Heater with Digital Thermostat is a complete 240V heating kit designed for controlled heating of compatible oils, waxes, fats and other non-flammable liquids. The kit combines a low heat-density immersion element, digital temperature controller and integrated temperature probe for simple and accurate temperature control.
The heater is supplied configured for up to 2400W output, with the option to reduce the total heating power to 1600W or 800W where a slower heat-up rate or lower heat input is preferred.

- Controller resolution of 0.1°C
- Approx. ±1°C controller accuracy
- 1m power lead with 10A plug
Low Heat-Density Immersion Heating
These immersion heaters are specifically designed with a low heat density of approximately 31kW/m² (20W/in²).
Low heat density means the heating load is spread over a larger element surface area, reducing the surface temperature of the element compared with more compact high-density heaters of the same total power.
This makes the heater particularly useful for fluids that can degrade, scorch or carbonise when exposed to excessive localised temperatures.
Suitable Heating Applications
The heater can be used with a range of compatible, non-flammable liquids and materials including:
- Vegetable oils
- Used or waste vegetable oils
- Biodiesel processing fluids where compatible
- Engine oils
- Heavy oils
- Waxes
- Beeswax
- Fats
- Other compatible non-flammable liquids
Always confirm the compatibility and safe operating temperature of the material being heated before use.
Digital Temperature Control
The included digital thermostat allows the operator to set and maintain the required fluid temperature automatically.
The integrated temperature probe monitors the liquid temperature and switches the heater as required to maintain the selected set point.
The controller provides:
- Maximum adjustable temperature of 99°C
- Approx. ±1°C accuracy
- 0.1°C display resolution
Selectable 800W, 1600W or 2400W Output
The heater is supplied configured for a total output of 2400W.
The electrical configuration can also be adjusted to provide lower total power outputs of 1600W or 800W where required.
Lower power settings can be useful where:
- A slower heating rate is preferred
- The vessel is smaller
- The fluid is particularly heat sensitive
- The application requires reduced heat input
Any electrical reconfiguration should be completed by a suitably competent person.
2" BSP Mounting Connection
The heater is supplied with a standard 2" BSP threaded fitting, allowing installation into compatible tanks, vessels and process equipment.
The threaded connection provides a convenient method for mounting the heater while allowing it to be removed for inspection, cleaning or servicing.
Element Length & Active Heating Length
The immersion element has an overall length of 521mm, with an active heating length of 473mm.
The active length is the section of the element that produces heat. The non-heated section near the mounting connection helps reduce heat transfer into the fitting and vessel wall.
The full active heating section must remain submerged in liquid whenever the heater is energised.
Operating the element with any part of the active heating section exposed to air can cause rapid overheating and permanent damage to the heater.
Top or Side Mounting
The difference between the total element length and active heating length provides some flexibility when installing the heater.
Depending on the vessel design and liquid level, the element may be installed horizontally through the side of a tank or vertically from the top.
Regardless of mounting orientation, the complete active heating section must remain submerged throughout operation.

Important Safety Information
Keep the active element submerged: The entire 473mm active heating section must remain immersed whenever the heater is operating. Running the heater dry or partially exposed can cause rapid overheating and element failure.
Do not use with flammable or explosive liquids: This heater is not described as explosion-proof or certified for heating flammable liquids or vapours.
Methanol and ethanol: Do not use this heater to heat methanol, ethanol or other flammable alcohols unless the complete installation has been specifically engineered and certified for that hazardous application. Simply limiting the liquid temperature does not remove the ignition or vapour hazard.
Electrical installation: The heater should only be connected to a suitable electrical supply protected in accordance with applicable electrical requirements. Any modification to the power configuration should be carried out by a suitably qualified or competent person.
Temperature suitability: Always confirm that the vessel, fluid, fittings and surrounding equipment are suitable for the intended operating temperature before heating.
