Designed for Boat Ramps & Fixed Pulling Applications
This Sherpa winch was developed for users wanting a simple, powerful and affordable 240V electric winch for fixed pulling applications.
It is particularly well suited to:
- Boat ramps
- Pontoon retrieval
- Trailer and ramp pulling
- Cable hauling
- Moving equipment
- Workshop pulling applications
- Other fixed horizontal or inclined load recovery tasks
When used with a suitable ramp or trailer arrangement, the winch can make hauling boats and other heavy loads significantly easier than manual winching.
500kg Rated Line Pull
The winch is rated to pull 500kg / 1,100lb on the outermost layer of cable on the drum.
As with most drum winches, available pulling force increases slightly as the effective drum diameter reduces on the inner cable layers.
This makes the winch a practical choice for fixed ramp pulling and similar applications where a reliable powered pulling system is required.
Fast 25m/min Line Speed
The winch delivers an approximately 25m/min line speed across the stated load range, allowing loads to be moved quickly and efficiently.
The high line speed is particularly useful for boat ramp and cable pulling applications where long lengths of cable may need to be retrieved regularly.
240V Plug-and-Play Operation
The winch is powered by a 240V single-phase 3hp / 2.2kW motor and is designed to operate from a standard 10A single-phase supply.
This provides a straightforward installation for locations where mains power is readily available, without the need for large batteries, DC cabling or charging systems.
Wired & Wireless Controls Included
Two control options are supplied as standard:
- Wired pendant controller with approximately 1m lead
- Wireless remote controller
Both controls provide momentary winch-in and winch-out operation through the heavy-duty contactor system.
This allows the operator to control the winch from a convenient position while maintaining visibility of the load and cable path.
Automatic Electric Brake
The winch incorporates an automatic electric brake located within the motor assembly.
When power is removed, the brake automatically applies to hold the load.
Locating the brake within the motor also helps keep braking heat away from the winch drum, which is beneficial if the winch is later converted from steel cable to a suitable synthetic rope.
Steel Cable Supplied
The winch is supplied ready for use with approximately 30m of 6mm steel cable fitted to the drum.
The large drum provides useful cable capacity for boat ramps and other applications where long pulling distances may be required.
The winch can also be used with suitable synthetic rope if the user prefers, with replacement rope available separately.
Outdoor Installation
The electric motor carries an IP44 ingress protection rating, providing protection against solid objects greater than 1mm and water splashing from any direction.
Although the winch is suitable for outdoor applications, installation under a suitable weather cover is recommended wherever practical. Protecting the winch from prolonged direct exposure to rain, salt spray and sunlight will help maximise service life and maintain its appearance.
Why Choose a Sherpa Electric Winch?
Tried & Tested
Sherpa develops its winches through both engineering design and practical load testing. Winches are tested under controlled conditions and real-world use to help validate the strength and reliability of the complete system.
This approach results in a robust winch backed by Australian-based pre-sales and after-sales support.
Heavy Duty Gearbox
The winch uses a high reduction planetary gearbox designed to convert the motor output into strong pulling force while maintaining smooth operation.
Sherpa specifies quality steel gear components for durability under repeated load.
Simple Electrical System
The single-phase design provides a straightforward alternative to high-current DC winch systems in fixed installations.
Simply provide a suitable 240V power supply and use either the wired or wireless controller to operate the winch.
Parts & Service Support
Sherpa supports the 240V winch range with replacement parts and service components to help maintain the winch over its operating life.

Important Application Note
This winch is not recommended for crane or hoist applications.
It may not meet the requirements of AS 1418 – Cranes, Hoists and Winches for applications governed by that standard. It is intended for pulling and recovery applications such as hauling boats, pontoons, cables and other loads along ramps or similar surfaces.
Users are responsible for confirming that the winch and installation are suitable for the intended application and any applicable workplace or regulatory requirements.
Installation & Safety
- Mount the winch to a suitably engineered structural surface.
- Ensure mounting bolts and supporting structure are appropriate for the expected loads.
- Keep people clear of the cable and load during operation.
- Inspect the cable, hook and mounting points before use.
- Do not exceed the rated line pull.
- Use the winch only for pulling applications consistent with the supplied manual.
- Protect the electrical system from prolonged weather exposure where practical.
- Disconnect power before servicing or maintenance.
