Description

The Paddock™ Tractor PTO Forestry Mulcher is a heavy-duty tractor attachment designed for clearing and mulching dense brush, shrubs, woody vegetation, trees and suitable stumps. Powered by the tractor PTO, the 1800mm wide mulcher uses a rotating drum fitted with 32 bolt-on tungsten carbide hammer teeth to cut, crush and mulch vegetation.

Paddock™ Tractor PTO Forestry Mulcher – 1800mm

Designed for tractors in the 70–110HP range, the Paddock™ Forestry Mulcher provides a powerful solution for vegetation management, property maintenance and land clearing applications.

The mulching drum is fitted with 32 replaceable tungsten carbide hammer teeth and is driven from the tractor PTO through a heavy-duty gearbox and six-belt drive system. The mulcher can be used for processing thick scrub, brush, woody vegetation and suitable trees and stumps, leaving processed organic material behind as mulch.

Heavy-Duty Forestry Mulching

The PMULCH180 is designed for demanding vegetation-clearing applications where a conventional tractor slasher may not be suitable. The rotating drum and hammer teeth cut, crush and grind suitable vegetation into smaller material, helping clear overgrown areas while leaving processed organic material behind.

The mulcher has a stated maximum grinding diameter of less than 200mm. Actual capability will depend on the type, hardness, condition and orientation of the vegetation, tractor power, operating technique and ground conditions.

Suitable stumps can also be progressively reduced using the mulching drum. Operators should work within the capabilities of the machine rather than attempting to process oversized material in a single pass.

32 Tungsten Carbide Hammer Teeth

The main drum is fitted with 32 heavy-duty, bolt-on tungsten carbide hammer teeth. The replaceable tooth design allows individual worn or damaged teeth to be serviced without replacing the complete drum assembly.

Tungsten carbide provides high wear resistance for demanding contact with woody vegetation and other suitable forestry material. Tooth condition should be inspected regularly and worn or damaged components replaced as required.

540 RPM or 1000 RPM PTO Operation

The forestry mulcher is designed for use with tractors providing either 540 RPM or 1000 RPM PTO operation. A clockwise PTO rotation is required.

Power is transferred through the mulcher gearbox to a six-belt drive system, which drives the main cutting drum.

The included PTO shaft has a 1-3/8" 6-spline connection and a maximum safe working length of 960mm. Correct PTO shaft length, overlap, operating angles and guarding must be checked for the individual tractor installation before use.

Hydraulic Rear Flap

The hydraulically controlled rear flap allows the operator to adjust the mulcher configuration for different applications.

Opening the rear flap provides greater access to the mulching drum when initially processing heavier vegetation. Closing the flap retains material within the mulching chamber for longer, assisting with further processing and producing a finer finished mulch.

A tractor with suitable rear auxiliary hydraulic connections is required to operate the rear flap.

Push & Pull Mulching

The mulcher can be used with suitable tractor configurations for both initial vegetation clearing and subsequent finishing passes. Operating direction and technique should be selected according to the tractor configuration, visibility, terrain, vegetation and instructions provided in the operator manual.

For finishing work, closing the rear flap can retain vegetation within the mulching chamber for additional processing as the implement passes over previously cut material.

Heavy-Duty Construction

The PMULCH180 is built for demanding agricultural and vegetation-management applications. A substantial gearbox transfers PTO power to the belt-driven mulching drum, while six drive belts provide power transmission between the drivetrain and rotor.

The bolt-on hammer teeth, heavy steel construction and serviceable drivetrain are designed to support ongoing maintenance in demanding operating environments.

Tractor Setup & Operator Protection

Forestry mulching presents significant hazards from thrown objects, falling timber, branches and other debris. The tractor and operator protection system must be suitable for forestry mulching before operating this attachment.

The supplied user manual provides guidance regarding additional protective measures, including polycarbonate and steel mesh guarding around appropriate areas of the tractor cab. Operators should follow the manual and ensure the tractor provides suitable protection for the intended working environment.

The tractor must also have sufficient power, three-point linkage capacity and stability to safely carry and operate an approximately 890kg rear-mounted implement. Ballasting and tractor setup should be in accordance with the tractor manufacturer's requirements.

Rear auxiliary hydraulic connections are required to operate the mulcher's hydraulic rear flap.

Important Installation & Safety Information

Before operation, confirm the tractor is suitable for the implement's approximately 890kg weight, PTO requirements, Cat. II linkage and hydraulic requirements. Correctly configure the three-point linkage and PTO shaft and ensure all guards and protective systems are installed and secure.

Keep people, animals, vehicles and property well clear of the operating area. Forestry mulching can eject material at high velocity and can disturb or bring down branches, trees and other vegetation. Inspect the work area for hidden obstacles and hazards before operation and follow the supplied operator manual.

Gearbox oil: The gearbox is stored and transported with only sufficient oil for transport and corrosion protection. Check and fill the gearbox with the specified lubricant to the correct level before operating the machine.

Some assembly is required due to shipping and transport requirements.

Mulcher

I've had the paddock mulcher for about 6 months and would definitely recommend to others. The photos are deceiving...this is a very big, solid duty implement. It eats through shrubs and suckers like nothing I've seen before.
