TurboWerx Exa-Pump TWX-300 High Temperature Oil Scavenge Pump
Description
The TurboWerx Exa-Pump TWX-300 is a high-temperature electric gear pump designed for demanding automotive fluid transfer and turbocharger oil scavenging applications. Built around a hardened bronze spur-gear pump head, high-temperature motor components and a finned aluminium heatsink, it is designed for continuous-duty operation in severe environments.
Available in 12V and 24V versions, the Exa-Pump delivers approximately 7.5–11.5 L/min open flow depending on oil temperature and viscosity, and can also generate more than 50 PSI in suitable pressure-pump applications.

High Temperature Operation
The Exa-Pump is rated for fluid temperatures up to 175°C / 350°F. The pump materials, motor insulation, bearings and heatsink have been selected for demanding high-temperature applications such as turbocharger oil scavenging.
Do not exceed the 175°C rated fluid temperature. Operation above the specified temperature may damage the pump and void warranty coverage.
Flow Performance
Open-flow performance is approximately 2–3 GPM / 7.5–11.5 L/min, depending on oil viscosity and temperature.
As with any positive-displacement pump, actual flow will vary with:
- Fluid viscosity
- Fluid temperature
- Suction conditions
- Discharge pressure
- Hose and fitting size
- System restrictions
The pump is also capable of generating more than 50 PSI at reduced flow in suitably configured pressure-pump applications.
Turbocharger Oil Scavenging
The Exa-Pump is particularly well suited to turbocharger oil scavenging systems where gravity oil return is difficult or impossible due to turbocharger placement.
The positive-displacement gear design allows the pump to move hot engine oil away from the turbocharger and return it to a suitable point in the lubrication system.
Correct hose sizing, filtration, mounting, venting and return routing are important for reliable operation.
Hardened Bronze Spur Gears
The pump head uses hardened bronze spur gears designed for durability in oil circulation service.
The gear profile is angle-cut to help reduce operating noise and vibration while maintaining positive-displacement pumping performance.
High Temperature Motor & Bearings
The Exa-Pump uses high-temperature motor insulation, oversized brushes and dual hybrid ball bearings rated for extended operating life.
These components are designed to support long-duration operation in demanding automotive environments when the pump is installed and operated within its specified limits.
Electrical Requirements
| Specification | 12V Version | 24V Version |
|---|---|---|
| Nominal Voltage | 12V DC | 24V DC |
| Typical Operating Current | <5A | <2.5A |
| Maximum Current | 20A | 10A |
| Recommended Circuit Protection | 20A fuse or circuit breaker | 10A fuse or circuit breaker |
The pump must be protected by a correctly rated fuse or circuit breaker.
The applied voltage may be up to 25% above the nominal rated voltage. Exceeding this limit may damage the pump and void warranty coverage.
For race vehicles operating continuously in the 16–18V range, the 24V Exa-Pump is the recommended version.
Reversible Pump Direction
Pump flow direction can be reversed by reversing the electrical polarity. This can simplify installation where the preferred hose routing requires the pump to operate in the opposite direction.
Ports & Included Fittings
The pump head uses 3/8" NPT female ports.
Each pump is supplied with:
- 2 x nickel-plated 3/8" NPT to -8AN adapters
- Weatherproof electrical connector
- Rubber-isolated mounting bracket
