Use the full pump model, motor or engine details, serial number and any production revision. Refer to the parts diagram and compare impeller diameter, seal type, shaft size, port connections, voltage and mounting pattern. Similar-looking pumps can use different internals, so photographs alone are rarely enough for reliable identification.
Mechanical seals, O-rings, diaphragms, check valves, impellers, bearings, pressure switches, brushes, capacitors and strainers are common service items depending on pump type. Wear is accelerated by dry running, abrasive contamination, incompatible chemicals, cavitation and excessive pressure. Diagnose the cause before replacing parts to prevent repeat failure.
Repair may be practical when the housing, shaft, windings or engine remain sound and model-specific service parts are available. Replacement may be more economical after severe corrosion, cracked housings, burnt windings, major bearing damage or repeated failures. Compare parts and labour cost against the age, condition and expected service life of the pump.
Common causes include running dry, shaft misalignment, abrasive particles, chemical incompatibility, overheating, excessive pressure and damaged sealing faces during installation. A replacement seal must match the shaft, seat and material specification. Correct the operating condition and keep sealing faces clean, as even minor contamination can cause immediate leakage.
Disconnect power, relieve pressure and drain hazardous fluid before dismantling the pump. Photograph or mark component orientation, use clean tools and replace disturbed O-rings or gaskets. Do not force impellers, seals or housings into place, and verify free rotation, correct oil level, leak-free connections and safe electrical operation before returning the pump to service.
